HYDRAA Commissioner, Mr. EV Ranganath, conducted field inspections on Wednesday to investigate the complaints lodged by the public. The Commissioner visited the Thumukunta Municipality as part of this initiative.
The visit was primarily to inspect the dispute causing hindrance on the roads in Devarayanjal village, survey numbers 135 and 136, following the High Court’s orders. The Commissioner held discussions with the locals and ordered the immediate repair of the road. This road is significant as it is en route to the upcoming court building and the Traffic Police Station.
Subsequently, the Commissioner also inspected the encroachments on the storm-water drain in Devarayanjal village. The locals lodged complaints about four colonies suffering from water clogging due to the encroachment of the rainwater drain that runs from Turkavanit Kunta to Devarayanjal Cheruvu.
Based on Gram Records, Survey of India, and NRSC maps, the Commissioner ordered the removal of encroachments and the restoration of the rainwater drain to its original width. He also inspected the shrinkage of a drain at the Vasavi Suchir India venture in Thumukunta village.
The locals brought to the Commissioner’s attention the shrinking of the drain from 9 meters to a mere 2 meters, causing water to overflow into the plots and houses in the venture. They showcased videos of the recent overflow caused by rains. The officials attributed the problem to the laying of pipes on the open drain. The Commissioner assured the locals of a quick resolution after a meeting with the Irrigation, HMDA, Municipal officials, and venture owners.
Additional Hyderabad Commissioner, Mr. N. Ashok Kumar, and Additional Directors, Mr. Varla Papaiah, accompanied the HYDRAA Commissioner, Mr. Ranganath, during these inspections.
