HYDRAA: Specialised Police Station for Land Encroachment and Public Property Damage Established

The state government has announced the creation of a specialised police station under the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA). This new station is designed to address complaints related to land encroachment and damage to public property.

The police station will operate from HYDRAA’s office located in Buddha Bhavan, Secunderabad. According to a government order (GO), the station will be led by an assistant commissioner of police, with additional police personnel assigned from existing resources. Cases will be handled based on directions from the HYDRAA commissioner.

HYDRAA is responsible for safeguarding public assets, such as lakes, drainage systems, parks, playgrounds, and government-owned land. Its jurisdiction includes areas within Hyderabad’s Outer Ring Road, encompassing the central region under the three police commissionerates.

Previously, complaints about land encroachment and public property damage were dealt with by regular police stations. However, these cases often faced delays due to the heavy workload of the stations. The new specialised police station will focus exclusively on these issues, ensuring quicker registration and investigation of cases.

As per the government order signed by special chief secretary Ravi Gupta, HYDRAA now has the authority to take legal action against land grabbers, encroachers, and those causing damage to public property. The new station aims to streamline the process and make it more efficient.
