Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Management and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has successfully reclaimed two parks and secured more than 3,000 square yards of open land in Kukatpally. This land is valued at approximately Rs 35 crore.
The action was prompted by a complaint from the Residents’ Welfare Association of Bhagyanagar Phase–III Colony. They reported significant encroachments on park land designated in the colony’s approved layout.
Under the instructions of HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath, officials conducted a field inspection. The Bhagyanagar Phase–III layout, approved by HUDA in 1987, covers 36 acres and includes 357 residential plots.
Inspectors discovered that two parks had been illegally occupied. In one park, nearly half of its 2,000-square-yard area was encroached upon. Additionally, about 1,000 square yards of another park, which spans an acre, were also illegally taken.
The Commissioner ordered the immediate removal of these illegal structures. HYDRAA officials cleared the encroachments and secured the park sites by installing fencing.
To prevent future violations, signs were placed indicating the areas as designated park land.
