Gadwal: A significant incident in Jogulamba Gadwal district revealed a large stockpile of illegal private school textbooks and notebooks at Sri Chaitanya School. This discovery highlighted the exploitation parents face under the pretense of education.
Kurva Pallayya, the BRSV State Leader and District Coordinator, reported that private schools in the district are overcharging parents, with textbook fees between ₹10,000 and ₹20,000 per student. “These schools are exploiting poor parents,” he said.
Raids and Seizures:
Authorities found the books in a rented house near Vijay Mess in the district headquarters. The Mandal Education Officer (MEO) sealed the rooms where the books were stored illegally. Kurva Pallayya demanded that the recognition of Sri Chaitanya School be revoked and called for strict action against its management.
He criticized private schools for:
- Misrepresenting government textbooks as private and overpricing them.
- Offering poor quality education while profiting heavily.
- Storing unauthorized books in rented homes for illegal sales.
He highlighted that even nursery students are charged ₹32,000 annually, violating the Fee Regulation Act.
Demand for Action:
- Immediate cancellation of the school’s license.
- Legal consequences for those involved in illegal textbook activities.
- Closing private schools exploiting the education system for profit.
Kurva Pallayya warned of district-wide protests by BRSV if authorities do not respond. He also criticized the lack of action against Saraswati School, which faced similar issues.
Student leaders like Mahadev, Yuvaraj, Narasimha, and Mahesh supported the protest, demanding reforms in the district’s private education system.
This case highlights the issue of commercial exploitation in private schools. With pressure from organizations like BRSV and the community, the district is expected to take swift action to ensure accountability and protect students and their families.
