S Jaishankar, the External Affairs Minister of India, visited Maputo, the capital of Mozambique, for three days. During his visit, he took a ride in a train made in India and discussed with the Mozambican Transport Minister about India’s partnership in expanding train networks, electric mobility, and waterways connectivity. He also met with the President of the African country’s Parliament to strengthen bilateral cooperation. This is the first-ever visit by an external affairs minister of India to Mozambique.
Jaishankar also interacted with the Indian community and visited a temple. Before visiting Mozambique, he held talks with the top leadership of Uganda, including President Yoweri Museveni, and discussed possible cooperation in trade, infrastructure, energy, and defense.
