The State department of Information Technology, Electronics & Communications has partnered with the 1M1B Foundation to establish India’s first Green Skills Academy in Hyderabad. The goal of this partnership is to train one million youth in green skills by 2030 through the Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge (TASK). The top 10 youth will have the opportunity to showcase their work at the annual 1M1B summit at the UN. This collaboration will help the State achieve its net zero mission and promote the importance of green skills among young people.
Jayesh Ranjan, the Principal Secretary of Information Technology, Electronics & Communications, expressed his support for the partnership and emphasized the significance of teaching green skills to young minds. He believes that every change starts with individuals and families, and hopes that the youth trained through this initiative will become role models for the rest of the country and the world.
The CEO of TASK, Shrikant Sinha, highlighted the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in the Green Skills Academy. He stated that the academy will expose young people to various skills related to green sustainability, empowerment, AI, and the Metaverse. This will not only prepare them for the future, but also enable them to contribute to the leadership of the growing economy.
Manav Subodh, the founder-chief mentor of 1M1B, emphasized the importance of using green and AI skills as equalizers. The Green Skills Academy will provide inclusive opportunities for youth in both cities and villages in Telangana. Subodh believes that this transformative mission will empower one million youth to become changemakers for a sustainable future driven by green sustainability and AI.
