Hyderabad: Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu announced that under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Telangana is advancing beyond ‘Make in India’ to ‘Invent in Telangana’. This initiative aims to drive innovation-led growth.
He spoke at the closing of the 2025 Industrial Innovation and Technology Expo (IITEX) at HITEX, organized by the Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI). Telangana is working to become a global innovation leader. In the first quarter of the financial year, Telangana’s Index of Industrial Production (IIP) grew by 2.9%, much higher than the national average of 0.52%. The state’s industry Gross State Value Added (GSVA) hit Rs 2.77 lakh crore in 2024-25. Power use increased by 15.6%, GST collections by 9.8%, and payroll enrollments by 13.9%, signaling strong industrial growth.
Despite claims that industries are leaving Telangana, the opposite is true. In the past 18 months, the state attracted over Rs 3 lakh crore in investments, with Rs 40,000 crore in the Life Sciences sector. 150 new projects have been launched, creating jobs for over 51,000 people directly and 1.5 lakh indirectly.
To balance industrial growth, Telangana is building Future City, AI City, Life Sciences City, and Green Industrial Corridors to meet international standards. Special zoning plans include technology and services zones inside the Outer Ring Road (ORR), manufacturing zones between ORR and the Regional Ring Road (RRR), and agricultural zones beyond RRR. These are part of a strategic ecosystem for sustainable economic growth.
Minister Sridhar Babu stressed the importance of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Over the last 18 months, more than 15,000 new MSMEs have been created in Telangana. The aim is to boost MSMEs’ contribution to Telangana’s GSDP to 10%. A specific MSME policy is in place, and MSME parks are being developed in every district, focusing on supporting women, SC, and ST entrepreneurs.
