Gadwal: Jogulamba Gadwal district has achieved the 20th rank in the state in the Intermediate Second Year (2024-25) examinations, with a pass percentage of 68.07%. This update was shared by the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education and shows both progress and areas that still need improvement in the district’s education system.
While being ranked 20th out of 33 districts may not seem very high, it is seen as a sign of gradual improvement. The district has long faced challenges such as rural school dropouts, limited resources in colleges, and poverty. District Collector B.Y. Santosh said the results reflect the hard work of students, teachers, and officials. He added that efforts are ongoing to help both students and teachers do even better.
One positive trend is the improved performance of government junior colleges. These colleges were once behind private institutions but are now catching up. This progress is thanks to efforts such as free study materials, extended study hours, mock exams, and regular supervision by education officials. Even students from remote villages are now competing more equally with those in private colleges.
Another highlight is that girls have again outperformed boys in the exams. This continues a recent trend seen across Telangana. Programs like Kalyana Lakshmi, scholarships, and free hostel facilities are helping more girls stay in school and focus on their studies.
However, several problems still affect education in the district. Many students drop out during the cotton harvest season. Some remote colleges lack trained teachers and do not have digital tools. Basic facilities like proper classrooms and labs are also missing in some schools. In addition, many students are unaware of career options and how to prepare for competitive exams.
To address these issues, education experts have created a 10-point plan to help the district improve further:
1. Start the year with basic foundation classes in key subjects.
2. Offer extra help and mentoring to students who are struggling.
3. Train teachers with modern teaching methods.
4. Provide digital tools like smart classrooms and learning apps.
5. Improve school facilities such as drinking water, labs, libraries, and clean toilets.
6. Involve parents more through regular meetings and updates.
7. Give students career guidance and share success stories of former students.
8. Hold monthly tests and give feedback to track progress.
9. Help students at risk of dropping out with financial aid and counseling.
10. Celebrate student achievements to motivate others.
Looking ahead, if these steps are carried out sincerely, the district can expect better exam results, fewer dropouts, and more students preparing for professional careers. Education officials are already planning awareness drives and “Back-to-School” campaigns for the upcoming academic year.
Once seen as an educationally backward area, Jogulamba Gadwal is now showing signs of positive change. With continued effort and community support, the district is moving toward a brighter future in education.
