On September 15, nine government medical colleges were inaugurated in Telangana, which is considered a historical day in the state’s history. The Chief Minister, Kalvakuntla Chandrashekhar Rao, virtually inaugurated these colleges from Pragati Bhavan in Hyderabad, along with Health Minister Harish Rao and Chief Secretary Shanta Kumari.

Previously, students had to go to countries like China, Ukraine, and the Philippines for medical education because there were only 5 medical colleges in Telangana. However, since the formation of the state, one medical college has been established in each district. This has led to a significant increase in the number of MBBS, PG, and super specialty seats, from 2,850 seats at the time of state formation to 4,490 seats currently.
