    The Karimnagar district has been experiencing very cold weather for the past four days. This has caused many elderly people to stay in bed and there has been an increase in cases of cold, cough, and fever. The Meteorological Department has predicted that the temperatures will drop even further over the next three days.

    On December 22, the temperature dropped to 12 degrees Celsius in Konaraopeta and 10 degrees in Peddapalli. Karimnagar recorded a temperature of 13 degrees Celsius, while Jagtial was slightly higher at 13.3 degrees. The night temperatures are expected to continue dropping until the end of the month.

    Due to the cold weather, residents have been wearing layers of woolens and there has been a high demand for woolen clothes. Shops have been set up in various locations in Karimnagar city to cater to this demand.

    Local trader Bhupesh says that sweaters, caps, gloves, blankets, and rugs are selling quickly and prices have increased. Despite the higher costs, profits are increasing this season.

    The cold weather also affects the skin, causing dryness. Dr. Prashanthi Reddy advises against hot water baths and recommends applying moisturizer after a slightly damp bath. It is important to stay hydrated, eat fresh fruits and vegetables, and seek medical advice for any skin allergies during this season.

    Individuals with high blood pressure face challenges during the cold season as the body needs extra energy to circulate blood, which can increase blood pressure. Dr. Reddy emphasizes the importance of wearing thick clothing to stay warm and maintain a stable body temperature.
