Dr. Koduri Srivani, an Assistant Professor and Head of the Economics Department at Satavahana University, highlighted several key allocations. She noted that the budget has emphasized micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), with Rs 200 crore allocated for export loans. Additionally, five skill training centers for youth have been established under the Nuclear Energy Mission as part of the “Vikasit Bharat” initiative. She also pointed out the allocation of Rs 500 crore for artificial intelligence (AI) centers and the focus on agriculture-based products.

Efforts to boost food grain production in 100 backward districts under the “PM Dhan Dhan Krishi Yojana” and the introduction of a new scheme, the Atmanirbhar Mission, for enhancing fruit and vegetable production were praised. The increase in the Kisan Credit Card loan limit from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh is expected to benefit farmers significantly. According to Dr. Srivani, the budget prioritizes agriculture, industry, and the middle class.

He explained that individuals earning an annual income up to Rs 12.75 lakh, including the standard deduction of Rs 75,000, will not have to pay taxes. This change is seen as a major relief for salaried employees and the common man.

Small trader Elagandula Shivakumar voiced concerns about the lack of support for roadside vendors. He urged the government to provide legal guarantees and allocate special funds in the budget to protect small traders and their livelihoods.

Farmer M. Mallikarjun lauded the government for prioritizing welfare and development in the budget. He highlighted the increased loan limit for Kisan Credit Cards, the issuance of 7.7 crore new cards, and initiatives like the National Cotton Commission and schemes for fruits and vegetables. He also appreciated the focus on research into agronomic varieties, which he believes will greatly benefit farmers.

Overall, the Union Budget 2025-26 has received a mixed response, with many appreciating its focus on agriculture, MSMEs, and the middle class, while others raised concerns about support for small traders and other vulnerable sections.
