Hyderabad: Kalvakuntla Kavitha, who leads Telangana Jagruthi, has declared a state-wide Rail Roko protest on July 17. The protest aims to urge the Central government to approve bills passed by the Telangana Assembly that propose 42% reservations for Backward Classes (BCs) in local bodies, education, and jobs.

At a BC Round Table meeting in Medak on Tuesday, organized by Telangana Jagruthi and the United Phule Front, Kavitha stressed the importance of pressuring the Central government. She stated, “This Rail Roko is not just a protest but a demonstration of the strength of Telangana BCs to the leaders in Delhi.”

Kavitha, serving as MLC, assured that all BC organizations and leaders would unite for this protest. She warned that this action would send a powerful message to the BJP government at the center.

The BRS MLC criticized the Congress-led state government for allegedly planning local elections without the proposed 42% BC reservations. She stated, “We will not permit elections without these reservations.”

Kavitha accused the Congress government of merely forwarding the bills to the Centre, shirking further responsibility. She questioned why the state government is not increasing efforts to secure the President’s approval.
