Hyderabad: Dr. Narendra Kumar, who leads the Directorate of Medical Education in Telangana, announced on Tuesday that inspections by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and the resulting notices to medical colleges are a regular part of starting a new academic year. He assured that all medical colleges would obtain the needed approvals.
Dr. Kumar clarified that NMC inspections and notices are a standard procedure at the beginning of every academic year. He mentioned that such notices have been common for four years now and that colleges in states like Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka have also received them this year. He emphasized that it is misleading to claim that only colleges in Telangana received notices or that this is an unusual event.
He acknowledged that opening many new colleges at once has caused challenges, such as faculty shortages and issues with basic facilities.
However, Dr. Kumar assured that the government is actively addressing these challenges. Adequate funding has been allocated, and necessary Government Orders have been issued. He confidently stated that all colleges will secure their permissions without any problems.
