Hyderabad: Former Chief Minister and current Leader of the Opposition, K Chandrashekar Rao, did not attend an important meeting held on Saturday. The meeting was organized by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and was meant to finalize names for key posts such as the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC), Right to Information (RTI) Chief Commissioner and Commissioners, Lokayukta, and Upa Lokayukta.
There is talk that Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, who will retire on April 30, might be appointed as the RTI Chief Commissioner. Another name being considered for the position is Chandrashekhar Reddy, a senior Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer and Secretary to the Chief Minister.
Sources also say that a few senior journalists have been shortlisted for RTI Commissioner posts. Meanwhile, several retired IAS officers and judges are trying to get selected for roles in the Human Rights Commission, RTI Commission, and Lokayukta.
After the meeting, which included Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and other committee members, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy sent a list of recommended names to Governor Jishnu Dev Varma for approval.
The Governor is expected to approve the list soon, and an official government notification will follow.
