Hyderabad: Union Minister G Kishan Reddy attended Argentina’s Independence Day celebrations, focusing on the strengthening ties between India and Argentina.
Speaking to guests and diplomats in New Delhi on Wednesday, he highlighted Argentina as a dependable ally for India, especially in critical minerals, economic growth, and global security.
“India is now the fourth-largest economy globally, and we aim to progress alongside nations from the Global South,” he stated. He pointed out the strong relationship between India and Argentina in trade, diplomacy, culture, tourism, and sports. Indian fans celebrated Argentina’s 2022 Soccer World Cup win, showing the love for football legends like Maradona and Messi.
In economic and tech collaboration, he announced India’s upcoming project on five lithium sites in Catamarca, Argentina. This project, led by CABIL (a Central Public Sector Undertaking), is a key move in sourcing essential minerals. “Argentina is crucial for meeting India’s mineral needs in sectors like defense, manufacturing, space, and pharmaceuticals,” he added.
He also praised Argentina’s support after the Pahalgam terror attack, reinforcing India’s commitment to security partnerships. “Argentina’s backing strengthens our fight against terrorism,” he remarked.
Earlier, Argentine Ambassador Mariano Agustin Cauchino stressed that India is a trustworthy partner for Argentina in many areas. He highlighted the importance of cooperation in critical minerals and reiterated support for India’s anti-terrorism efforts.
The event included officials from the Argentine Embassy, ambassadors from different countries, industry leaders, and representatives from India’s foreign affairs and mineral sectors. Kishan Reddy extended greetings to Argentina, hoping for increased cooperation in the future.
With shared values and strategic focus, the India–Argentina partnership is growing, setting a benchmark for strong bilateral relations based on trust, innovation, and global responsibility.
