The Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Shri Parshottam Rupala, will launch an app called Report Fish Disease (RFD) tomorrow at Krishi Bhawan. This is to help farmers report diseases in their fish, shrimp, and mollusc farms to field officers and fish health experts. The RFD app will store data about the diseases and make it easier to track them. This will help farmers get scientific advice and manage the diseases more efficiently.
The RFD app will support farmers in improving their reporting system and reducing losses due to diseases. This will increase their income. The app will also have a positive impact on fish disease management by promoting early detection, rapid response, collaboration, and knowledge sharing. It will help make aquaculture systems more sustainable and resilient by minimizing the negative impacts of fish diseases on fish population, industry, and ecosystems.
The app has been developed by ICAR-NBFGR under National Surveillance Programme for Aquatic Animal Diseases (NSPAAD), funded under Pradhan Mantri MatsyaSampadaYojana by the Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India. The Minister of State, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Dr. L. Murugan, and senior officers from DARE, ICAR, and NSPADD will also be present at the launch.
