Hyderabad: K Taraka Rama Rao (KTR), the working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), has accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of being involved in a major corruption scandal. He claimed that Rs 8,888 crore were misused through fraudulent tender allocations under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme. KTR alleged that the CM used his position to benefit his family and close associates.
During a media address, KTR explained that within just three months of taking office, Revanth Reddy misused his control over the Urban Development Department. According to KTR, large contracts were illegally given to companies that lacked the necessary qualifications. He further alleged that many of these companies had close ties to the Chief Minister’s family.
One key example, KTR said, was Shodha Infrastructure Limited, owned by the CM’s brother-in-law, S Srujan Reddy. The company was given contracts worth Rs 1,137 crore, even though it had only declared a small profit of Rs 2 crore. KTR remarked that the only reason this company received such large contracts seemed to be its family connection to the Chief Minister.
KTR also alleged that a public-listed company, Indian Hume Pipe Ltd, was forced into a joint venture with Shodha Infrastructure. In this partnership, Indian Hume Pipe was given only 20% of the project work while Shodha Infrastructure received 80%, further raising suspicions of corruption.
Additionally, KTR criticized Revanth Reddy for not sharing important details about the AMRUT 2.0 tenders with the public. He argued that this lack of transparency prevented proper oversight. KTR demanded that the Congress-led State government release all documents related to the AMRUT scheme for public scrutiny.
