Hyderabad – Six men from Adilabad district in Telangana have safely returned home after being stuck in a Malaysian jail for months.
These men—Rachakonda Naresh, Talari Bhaskar, Gurujala Shankar, Gurijala Rajeshwar, Gunda Srinivas from Lingapur, and Yamunoori Ravinder from Munyal—left for Malaysia last year looking for jobs. But things went wrong when they were unexpectedly arrested on arms-related charges. It’s believed they unknowingly violated local laws due to lack of proper information.
When news reached BRS Working President KT Rama Rao (KTR), he quickly stepped in. KTR asked Bhukya Johnson Naik, the BRS leader and Khanapur in-charge, to take action and help the families.
Johnson Naik first met the men’s families to understand the full situation. Then, in March, he flew to Malaysia to meet the jailed men personally. He promised them he would do everything he could to bring them home.
After learning about the charges, Naik hired lawyers using his own money. He worked to speed up the legal process. In May, he returned to Malaysia, paid the court fines from his own pocket, arranged their flight tickets, and brought them back to India safely.
On Wednesday, the six men met KTR at his residence, accompanied by Johnson Naik. They were filled with emotion and said they had nearly lost hope. They thanked both leaders and said they will always be grateful for their rescue.
This heartfelt reunion highlights the importance of quick action, compassion, and leadership during tough times.
