Hyderabad: BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has accepted a public challenge from Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, causing a major stir in Telangana politics. During a media interaction at Telangana Bhavan, KTR made a bold statement, saying he would retire from politics if the claims he made turned out to be false.
KTR proposed that an inquiry be conducted by a sitting judge to verify the truth. He said, “If my claims are proven wrong after an inquiry by a sitting judge, I will take political retirement. Yesterday, a minister said he would resign if proven wrong. If he is sincere, let’s both go to the Chief Justice of the High Court and request an inquiry. If the inquiry clears me of wrongdoing, I will retire from politics.” KTR also suggested that they could approach the Central Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) if there were any concerns about a High Court inquiry.
The challenge started when Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy accused KTR of making false claims about tenders. Ponguleti stated that the tenders in question, which KTR claimed were worth ₹8,888 crore, were actually worth ₹3,516 crore. Ponguleti further said that if KTR’s allegations were proven true, he would resign. However, he also challenged KTR to resign if his claims were found to be incorrect.
This exchange of words has sparked a new political debate in Telangana, with both leaders standing firm on their positions.
