KTR urges Pochampally weavers to adopt Tamil Nadu’s practices

Telangana Industries minister, KT Rama Rao, has suggested that the weavers of Pochampally should work together and follow the example of the Tirpur Textile cluster for the development and promotion of their famous brand in the future.

Minister KTR visited Yadadri Bhongir district today and took part in various development programs. He also inaugurated the Art Renovation Unit set up by young handloom artist Saini Bhagat.

KTR praised Bhagat’s team for establishing a large-scale handloom unit with the aim of protecting the handloom weavers and providing them with employment opportunities. The government will initiate several programs to support the development of handicrafts.

KTR accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of imposing GST on weavers, but stated that the Telangana government has stepped in to help struggling Pochampally handlooms by providing incentives. The government is committed to reviving the Pochampally handloom park and creating more employment opportunities for the weaving community.
