Nalgonda: Tensions escalated in Chundur town after officials demolished a building late at night. The structure reportedly belonged to former Municipal Chairman Tokala Venkanna. The demolition, done with JCB machines on Tuesday night, sparked criticism and claims of political revenge.

Venkanna criticized the action, accusing officials of bias. He argued that demolition notices targeted only members outside the ruling party, while supporters of the ruling party faced no such actions.

    Inconsistent Road Measurements Raise Concerns

Venkanna highlighted issues with the road expansion project, noting inconsistent road widths—some areas were 78 feet, others 85, and even 95 feet wide. He claimed these irregularities showed favoritism and political targeting. He plans to challenge this in the High Court, trusting in the judicial process.

The situation intensified when former Munugode MLA Kusukuntla Prabhakar Reddy visited the site. With BRS party leaders and supporters, he accused current MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy of orchestrating a political vendetta.

Prabhakar Reddy criticized the ruling MLA for not securing development funds for Chundur, contrasting his own success in bringing Rs50 crore in municipal grants during his time in office.

    Call for Development, Not Demolitions

BRS leaders challenged Rajgopal Reddy’s leadership. Prabhakar Reddy urged him to focus on developing Chundur instead of targeting political opponents, accusing him of using power for revenge.

With potential legal battles, public protests, and growing political tension, the midnight demolition could mark the start of a significant conflict in Chundur’s civic and political scene.
