Kagaznagar: On Monday, the Student Unemployed JAC, led by Convenor Ponna Ramesh, approached Kagaznagar Tahsildar Madhukar and Municipal Commissioner Rajender with requests. They asked for local job opportunities in the Kagaznagar SPM Company.
Ramesh highlighted that when the company re-opened in 2018, it benefited from substantial government subsidies and tax breaks. Despite these advantages, the company mostly hires people from other states, not locals.
He pointed out that locals make up only 25% of the workforce, while 75% are from outside the area. Last month, a memorandum was sent to the SPM management, urging them to hire qualified local candidates. These include those with ITI, Polytechnic, Engineering, B.Sc., and B.Com. degrees. Around 150 unemployed locals supported this appeal with their signatures.
Ramesh criticized the company for not responding adequately. He demanded immediate action to provide job opportunities for the unemployed youth in the region.
