In Adilabad, authorities arrested a man for illegally obtaining 25 acres using false documents. The fraud was uncovered after a complaint was made to the district Superintendent of Police (SP). Back in 1954, the government granted 25 acres in Kazjarl village to Ameenuddin Khan, who had only one daughter. This land was left unused for many years.
Karunakar Reddy, a former Talamadugu Sarpanch, allegedly created a fake dependent certificate, falsely identifying Sheikh Latif as Ameenuddin’s grandson. This fraudulent certificate enabled the transfer of the land to Sheikh Latif in 2005.
Because the land was government-assigned, a No Objection Certificate (NOC) was secured from the RDO in 2009. Just four days later, Karunakar Reddy registered the land under his name. The situation became more complex when Sheikh Latif died in 2022.
The rightful heirs of Ameenuddin Khan reached out to the district SP, prompting an investigation. Adilabad Rural CI K Phanidhar confirmed that fake certificates were used to take control of the land illegally. District SP Akhil Mahajan has taken steps to tackle land fraud, stressing the importance of careful verification when issuing dependent certificates.
Karunakar Reddy has been arrested and remanded. The true heirs are currently living in Subhash Nagar, Adilabad.
