The Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments have agreed to hand over the management of Nagarjuna Sagar and Srisailam projects to the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB). A high-level meeting was conducted by the board, and they decided to form a three-member committee to resolve water sharing disputes between the two states. The Telangana government will hand over six components of the projects, while Andhra Pradesh will hand over nine components to the Krishna Board. The board will take over the management of the projects with the approval of both states. The meeting did not discuss the management of hydel power stations under the projects. The three-member committee will also decide on water release to both states in each season. Telangana insisted on a 50:50 water sharing ratio until KWDT-2 finalizes allocations. Telangana also raised concerns about unauthorized construction projects diverting Krishna water outside the basin without proper approval. Telangana irrigation officials informed the board that there is no need for CRPF deployment on the left half of the Nagarjuna Sagar project dam. The Telangana government will raise their issues with the Centre. Both states agreed to display the Outlet Board for water management. The decision of the three-member committee will be final in water allocation between the two states. The board will manage the project components in coordination with both states.
