Warangal: A large crowd created chaos at the Mega Job Mela held at MK Naidu Convention Hall in Warangal on Friday. The event was organized by the State Government along with the Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge (TASK). Officials struggled to manage the crowd, leading to confusion and disorder.
During the rush to register, several job seekers were injured as they pushed and shoved each other. A total of 23,238 candidates attended the job fair. Out of them, 5,631 people were given jobs, while another 9,046 were shortlisted for the final round of selection.
At the event’s opening ceremony, Minister for Forests, Environment and Endowments Konda Surekha said the government is working hard to create job opportunities. She mentioned that they aimed to offer 11,000 jobs in Warangal through 60 multinational companies (MNCs). She criticized the previous government for failing to solve the unemployment issue during its 10 years in power.
Konda Surekha also said that since the Congress party took charge, they have provided 60,000 jobs. However, she admitted that giving government jobs to everyone is not possible. Therefore, the government is encouraging private sector jobs based on people’s skills. She asked the police to manage the job fair smoothly due to the large number of attendees.
The minister added that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy promised to provide 2 lakh government jobs. She said Telangana is progressing and more job fairs will be held across the state. So far, job fairs have already taken place in Parkal and Bhupalpally areas of the Warangal district.
Minister for Panchayat Raj, Danasari Anasuya, also known as Seethakka, said people want job opportunities specific to Telangana. She announced that the government will soon recruit 14,000 Anganwadi workers. She encouraged young people to take any job opportunities they find and not to waste time.
Seethakka also mentioned that Warangal is a key area for development, with the State Cabinet paying special attention to it. She spoke about the planned revival of the Mamnoor Airport as part of this development.
At the end of the event, the two ministers, along with Warangal District Collector Satya Sharada, gave job offer letters to 17 women who completed nursing courses. Other officials, including GWMC Commissioner Ashwini Tanaji Wakade and TASK CEO Reddy, also attended the event.
