Hyderabad Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi has instructed officials to address street issues within two days. She recently reviewed the maintenance of street lights with Commissioner Ronald Rose and electricity department officials at the GHMC headquarters. In a previous meeting, Vijayalakshmi promised to promptly resolve complaints received by the concerned agency. However, due to a lack of buffer stock, these complaints have not been resolved as promised, leading to numerous allegations and complaints from the public and corporators.

The Mayor explained that although the GHMC has funds allocated for monthly charges to the electricity department, necessary buffer stock is not being prepared for the city. This is because funds are being allocated to other municipalities in the state. Consequently, it is difficult to resolve complaints immediately.

Vijayalakshmi further highlighted that in some areas, street lights are on during the day but not at night. Similar complaints have been received from various parts of the city.
