Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi of Hyderabad has ordered officials to address street issues within two days. She recently reviewed the maintenance of street lights with Commissioner Ronald Rose and electricity department officials at the GHMC headquarters. The Mayor expressed disappointment that complaints have not been resolved promptly, as promised in the previous meeting. The main issue is the lack of buffer stock, which has led to numerous complaints from residents and corporators.

Mayor Vijayalakshmi explained that although the GHMC allocates funds for monthly charges to the electric department, they are unable to prepare the necessary buffer stock for the city. This is because funds are being allocated to other municipalities in the State. As a result, complaints cannot be resolved immediately.

One common complaint is that street lights are being lit during the day but not at night. Similar allegations have been reported across the city.
