Hyderabad: As the Bakrid festival approaches, Medchal DCP N Koti Reddy has called for stronger law enforcement and faster investigations. On Wednesday, he directed officers to stay alert, boost patrolling, and set up check-posts to maintain peace in the area.
At a crime review meeting held in Shamirpet, top officials gathered to discuss safety measures. The meeting included the Additional DCP, Assistant Commissioners of Police, all Station House Officers (SHOs), sub-inspectors, investigating officers, court duty officers, CCTNS operators, and station writers from the Medchal zone.
DCP Reddy reviewed how well teams are handling law and order issues and ongoing investigations. He stressed the importance of clearing pending cases quickly and using better crime prevention techniques. Special focus was placed on tracking known troublemakers, preparing for Bakrid security, and following guidelines from senior officials.
Officers analyzed all ongoing investigations, especially those involving serious crimes and financial offenses. They also looked into how case diary files are being managed. Extra attention was given to cases that began before 2023 and yet-to-be-identified (UI) cases recorded in the first half of 2024.
Sensitive cases like POCSO, SC/ST-related crimes, and those needing forensic reports or postmortem examinations were also discussed. The team evaluated how quickly these cases are moving through the system.
They also reviewed station-wise conviction rates, property recovery, and case disposals. Officers looked at compoundable cases that had been pending for a long time and discussed strategies for better monitoring of active suspects.
The meeting also addressed issues like sound pollution cases, updates in the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS), and the setup of Bakrid security check-posts.
Additionally, officers discussed the status of pending 4C petitions, citizen complaints under Prajavani, ongoing commission enquiries, and active cybercrime cases.
DCP Reddy urged all departments to stay coordinated and proactive to ensure a safe and peaceful festival season.
