Hyderabad: Chevella MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy held a meeting on Wednesday with fellow BJP MPs and officials from the University of Hyderabad (UoH). The meeting has sparked political discussion, especially because the UoH Vice-Chancellor BJ Rao and Registrar Dr. Devesh Nigam were also present. BJP MPs N Raghunandan Rao and Eatala Rajender attended the meeting as well. The gathering drew attention after BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) recently said he would reveal a major land scam worth thousands of crores.

After the meeting, MP Vishweshwar Reddy spoke to the media and said the meeting was not political. He explained that they reviewed land documents to check who owns the land, whether trees can be removed, how much land is currently available, and if any land had been given away or could be surveyed. He mentioned that the Congress government had earlier allotted 2,434 acres to the university. Over time, some of that land was given to the Gachibowli Stadium, MRO office, Navodaya School, and some private individuals.

Just a day earlier, KTR had accused a BJP MP of being involved in a scam related to the auction of 400 acres of UoH land. He said he would reveal full details of the scam on Thursday.

MP Raghunandan Rao said that the Congress government in the past had taken 543 acres of UoH land but returned only 397 acres, without registering the rest. He claimed that instead of giving the land back to the university, BRS leaders are now trying to blame others. He also mentioned that when a road was built for the TNGOs society, the university had gone to court, but lost the case. The matter is now pending in the Supreme Court.

Raghunandan Rao added that the Rangareddy District Collector had submitted a report in 2012 stating the university owns 2,185 acres, including the disputed 400 acres. The court also ruled that the land does not belong to private individuals, which supports UoH’s claim. He said the government should follow the 2012 report and return the land to the university. He challenged KTR to provide proof of the scam and promised to respond afterward. He also said the BJP MPs would inform their party leadership and support the students of UoH.
