Wanaparthy, Telangana – Due to unexpected rains in the region, District Collector Aadarsh Surabhi visited key paddy procurement and rice milling centers on Tuesday to check how operations are running and ensure farmers don’t face delays.
He first stopped at the Rajanagaram paddy procurement center, where he met with local staff and farmers. With rains disrupting the process, he warned that farmers might face difficulties if grain is left in trucks for too long. He urged workers to unload paddy from vehicles quickly and send the trucks back to avoid spoilage.
Later, he inspected the Sri Venkateshwara Industries rice mill in Chityal. He reviewed the paddy stock and checked the condition and moisture levels of the rice brought in by farmers.
The Collector directed staff to weigh the paddy promptly and move it to the mill once the moisture levels are confirmed acceptable. He also advised rice millers to purchase not just premium quality rice, but also coarse varieties to support all types of farmers.
Civil Supplies Officer Vishwanath, Tahsildar Ramesh Reddy, and other officials joined Surabhi during the inspections. The visit aimed to ensure a smooth and fair procurement process despite the weather challenges.
