Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) is witnessing a growing wave of support from minority communities, with several prominent leaders from different parties joining its ranks. This comes amid growing discontent among minorities over the Congress government’s failure to allocate a single ministerial post to a minority representative.

Leaders such as HYC’s Salman Khan, Ali Masqati, and several others from various political backgrounds have recently joined the BRS, signaling a shift in political sentiment among minority groups. Party insiders say that BRS is actively welcoming minority leaders, emphasizing inclusivity and strong representation within the party structure.

In contrast, Congress’s minority leadership has struggled to retain public trust or attract new support. Many within the community feel sidelined after the Congress government overlooked them in cabinet formation, causing visible frustration among Muslim voters across Hyderabad.

The upcoming Jubilee Hills by-election is expected to be a major test of this shifting sentiment. With nearly 1.6 lakh minority voters in the constituency, their choice will play a decisive role in determining the outcome.

Although AIMIM has announced its support for Congress in this election, the party had itself secured around 7,000 votes in the December 2023 Assembly polls in the same segment. Political analysts believe that the consolidation of minority votes will be crucial — and BRS’s active outreach may tilt the balance.

As the campaign heats up, all eyes are now on how Congress plans to regain the confidence of the Muslim electorate, while BRS continues to position itself as a more inclusive and welcoming alternative for minority representation in Telangana politics.
