Wanaparthy MLA Thudi Megha Reddy has promised full support to the local police to help maintain peace and order. He aims to make Wanaparthy district the leading region in the state for community-friendly policing.
On Saturday, the MLA joined District Collector Adarsh Surabhi and Superintendent of Police Ravula Giridhar to open the newly renovated Sub-Divisional Police Office. The building, once old and outdated, now serves as an upgraded hub at the Police Headquarters.
Speaking at the event, Megha Reddy stressed the importance of strong infrastructure for effective policing. He said the police must be well-equipped to ensure safety and build trust with the public. He urged officers to make Wanaparthy a model for law and order among all 33 districts in the state.
He explained that police offices should be easy for people to access. That’s why the DSP office was refurbished and reopened. He thanked the Collector for approving the necessary funds for the renovation.
To further support the police, Megha Reddy announced a personal contribution of Rs 20 lakh. This money will go toward improving facilities for police in Wanaparthy town and nearby mandals.
He also shared updates on other development plans. The government has approved new Tahsildar offices in three mandals, each costing Rs 32 lakh. Plans are also underway to build new Station House Officer (SHO) offices and to get clearance for a new Circle Office and another SHO post in the town.
During the ceremony, the MLA, Collector, and SP honored DSP Venkateshwara Rao by officially seating him in his new office.
Other attendees included Market Yard Chairman Srinivas Goud, Tahsildar Ramesh Reddy, circle inspectors, sub-inspectors, and police staff.
