Karimnagar: The government is working to support and empower women by helping them become financially strong, said Manakondur MLA Kavvampally Satyanarayana.
On Saturday, a new electric auto driving training program was started for 20 women at the Durgabai Deshmukh Women and Child Welfare Center in LMD Colony. The event was organized by the State Women’s Cooperative Development Corporation in partnership with the MoVO Society.
Speaking at the event, the MLA said the government wants women to become self-reliant and even millionaires. To help achieve this goal, it is supporting women’s self-help groups with various projects like running canteens, buying RTC rental buses, and opening petrol bunks.
He explained that women will be trained to drive electric autos and given financial support to buy them. Since electric autos don’t require fuel, they can help women earn money every day. He also said that women could make a steady income by safely transporting schoolchildren.
Shobharani, Chairperson of the State Women’s Corporation, shared that in the past, women were mostly trained in beauty services and tailoring. Now, the goal is to help women succeed in a wider range of fields, including driving.
District Collector Pamela Satpathy added that the government is taking many steps to improve women’s financial independence. She said that women drivers can provide safe transport, and since many women use public transport, it should also be operated by women.
At the end of the event, certificates were given to women who had completed various training programs at Mahila Pranganam.
