In preparation for the monsoon season, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has put its emergency teams on high alert to address any water logging issues in the city. The meteorological department’s forecasts have prompted this proactive approach.

GHMC has established a total of 254 Monsoon Emergency Teams and 238 Static Teams throughout Greater Hyderabad. Additionally, 29 Certified Risk Management Professionals (CRMP) and 30 Enforcement Wing, Vigilance Wing, and Disaster Management Wing (EVDM) are also actively involved. Vehicles equipped for dewatering have been strategically placed at identified water logging spots.

Due to water stagnation leading to traffic congestion, GHMC Commissioner Amrapali Kata and zonal commissioners have directed the on-field teams to take immediate action. Officers who neglect their duties have been warned of consequences to ensure efficient response.

To prevent rainwater stagnation, teams have set up camps at known water logging areas with banners assuring the public of their readiness. The Commissioner has instructed officials to clean drains and roads promptly, including removing debris and mud carried by rainwater. After the rain stops, silt accumulated on road edges is also being cleared for better drainage.
