Rangareddy district has experienced significant rainfall this monsoon. As of Friday, the area has recorded 116.9 millimeters of rain, which is an 8.5% increase compared to the usual 107.8 mm.
A report from the Rangareddy district Collectorate highlights that seven mandals received more rain than expected. Eighteen mandals experienced normal rainfall, while one mandal had less rain, and another had very little. On Friday, the district recorded 14.5 mm of rain. Notably, no mandal has seen rain for more than three days in a row since July began. Maheshwaram and Keshampet are the wettest areas, each with 152.5 millimeters of rain.
Several other mandals also surpassed 100 mm of rain, including Nandigama (146.6 mm), Ibrahimpatnam (143.9 mm), and Yacharam (141.3 mm), among others. This year’s rainfall is better than the past five years.
Meanwhile, District Collector C Narayan Reddy, IAS, has urged officials to meet the goals of the ‘Vana Mahotsav’ programme. In a video conference, he emphasized planting trees in all government schools, colleges, health centers, and other institutions, as well as in industrial areas and unused government land. The Collector stressed the need for collaboration among departments to ensure success. He also highlighted the importance of caring for the saplings, with proper fencing and watering. Officials must execute the plan diligently, as negligence will not be tolerated.
