Hyderabad: Telangana’s latest Economic Survey 2025-26 paints a picture of strong economic growth across the state, with the Hyderabad metropolitan region continuing to drive development while several districts record significant gains in output and income.

According to the survey, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has reached an estimated economic output of ₹8,56,275 crore (approximately $100.7 billion), making it one of India’s largest urban economies. The Hyderabad metropolitan region now ranks among the country’s leading economic centres, powered by information technology, pharmaceuticals, financial services, real estate, manufacturing, and infrastructure development.

The report also highlights Ranga Reddy district as the state’s biggest contributor to economic activity. With an estimated Gross District Domestic Product (GDDP) of ₹3,41,080 crore during FY 2024-25, the district has emerged as Telangana’s largest district economy and one of the strongest growth engines in the country.

Ranga Reddy district also recorded a remarkable per capita income of ₹11,29,735 during 2024-25, placing it among India’s highest-income districts. The district’s growth has been driven by rapid urbanisation, IT expansion, industrial investments, logistics infrastructure, commercial developments and residential growth along Hyderabad’s western and southern corridors.

Hyderabad Region Continues to Lead Growth

The combined economic strength of Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri and Sangareddy districts demonstrates the growing importance of the Hyderabad metropolitan region in Telangana’s economy. Together, these districts account for a substantial share of the state’s industrial output, IT exports, services sector growth and investment inflows.

The western corridor comprising Hitech City, Gachibowli, Financial District, Kokapet and surrounding areas continues to attract multinational corporations, Global Capability Centres (GCCs), data centres and technology firms. Meanwhile, infrastructure projects such as the Outer Ring Road, Regional Ring Road, Metro Rail expansion and new industrial parks are supporting further economic growth.

Districts Beyond Hyderabad Also Showing Strong Performance

The survey indicates that growth is not limited to Hyderabad alone. Districts such as Nalgonda, Khammam, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Nizamabad and Siddipet are emerging as important economic centres due to investments in agriculture, food processing, mining, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, energy, and logistics.

Bhadradri Kothagudem continues to benefit from mining and power generation activities, while Nalgonda and Suryapet are witnessing growth driven by improved connectivity, industrial development, and real estate expansion. Siddipet has also emerged as a significant contributor through agricultural and agro-based economic activities.
