Wakefit, a prominent provider of sleep and home solutions in India, recently released the results of its 7th edition Great Indian Sleep Scorecard (GISS) 2024, focusing on sleep trends in Hyderabad. The report highlights concerning statistics about sleep quality and habits among city residents.
The survey revealed that 56% of people in Hyderabad experience sleepiness during work hours, which can impact productivity. Additionally, 48% of respondents reported not feeling refreshed upon waking up, indicating potential issues with sleep quality.
Factors contributing to sleep disturbances in Hyderabad were explored in the report. It noted that 36% of residents go to bed after 11 pm, later than the recommended bedtime, leading to tired mornings. Furthermore, 33% expressed concerns about insomnia, showing the prevalence of sleep-related disorders in the region.
Digital distractions, such as late-night binge-watching and social media scrolling, were found to disrupt sleep patterns for 56% of respondents. A significant 91% admitted to using smartphones before bedtime, emphasizing the impact of digital devices on sleep routines.
Work-related stress also affected sleep for many in Hyderabad. The report indicated that 32% attributed their late-night activities to job requirements, while 29% reported staying awake at night due to future-related anxieties.
