Hyderabad witnessed a grand procession on Sunday as thousands of Muslims commemorated Prophet Mohammed’s 1,500th birth anniversary. People gathered on foot, bikes, and cars for this Milad-un-Nabi Peace procession, which was held under tight security. Originally set for September 5, the event was postponed to maintain harmony with Ganesh celebrations.

The procession unfolded during the month of Rabi-al-Awwal, the third month in the Islamic calendar. Muslims celebrate Milad during this time, with the main procession occurring on its 12th day. This year’s event was a testament to the unity and respect between Muslims and non-Muslims in the city.

The Markaz-e-Milad Juloos Committee announced year-long events for this special anniversary. Celebrations began on Saturday night, and peaceful rallies were organized by Islamic groups on Sunday. Participants shared sweets, snacks, juices, and food with others, fostering a spirit of community.

Especially notable was the Milad rally in the Old City, led by the Markazi Juloos Milad Committee. Starting from Dargah Quadri Chaman in Falaknuma, it moved to Mecca Masjid near Charminar. Smaller processions joined from areas like Chandrayangutta and Kalapather, converging at Charminar.

Islamic scholars initiated the rally at Charminar, which then traveled through Gulzar Houz and other significant locations, concluding at Moghalpura. The procession was marked by joy and devotion, with religious leaders and community icons at the forefront.
