Damaracherla (Nalgonda): In a strong move to stop the illegal inflow of paddy into Telangana, Nalgonda SP Sharath Chandra Pawar made a surprise visit to the Vadapally border check-post on Wednesday. This checkpoint, located in Damaracherla mandal, sits along the border shared with Andhra Pradesh.
During the inspection, the Superintendent of Police carefully examined the entry records and questioned border officials about the arrival of paddy-loaded trucks from neighboring states.
He raised a serious alarm about middlemen trying to take advantage of the Telangana government's bonus scheme by bringing in paddy from outside the state. “Selling paddy from other states within Telangana is strictly banned,” SP Pawar stated firmly.
To stop the misuse, the police have set up two major integrated check-posts—one at Vadapally and another at Nagarjunasagar. These checkpoints are actively monitoring the Andhra Pradesh–Telangana border.
So far, officials have stopped 103 trucks attempting to transport paddy illegally into Telangana. SP Pawar also confirmed that eight criminal cases have been filed against those involved. “We’re conducting a full investigation into this illegal activity,” he said.
The SP warned that anyone caught in this illegal trade will face strict legal action. He made it clear that the goal is to protect local farmers and make sure that government schemes benefit the right people.
Police forces across the district have now tightened security at all border points. Their efforts aim to stop any illegal movement of paddy during the current procurement season.
