Hyderabad: The opposition BRS party is gearing up to address the Congress government’s alleged neglect of Telangana irrigation projects. K Chandrashekar Rao, the BRS Chief, will soon convene a key meeting with party leaders.
This significant gathering will focus on the government’s perceived lack of attention and negative stance towards irrigation initiatives. The move follows a meeting regarding the Banakacharla project, initiated by the neighboring Andhra Pradesh government.
BRS leaders expressed concern over Chief Minister Revanth Reddy‘s silence on state irrigation project developments. In the meeting, KCR will outline how the Congress government has sidelined the Palamuru-Rangareddy lift irrigation scheme, which was nearly finished under BRS, and neglected the Kaleshwaram project by citing minor damages.
The Congress government’s actions have left thousands of acres of farmland without necessary irrigation water from the Kaleshwaram project. BRS leaders claim that the government and Chief Minister are pretending to support farmers for political reasons. The party plans to discuss their next steps in response.
The incomplete construction of this project poses a significant risk to Telangana, according to BRS leaders. They aim to devise strategies for activism on this issue. During the meeting, BRS will also explore what they describe as Congress’s betrayal, which they argue has harmed Telangana farmers over the past 18 months.
