Nidmanoor (Nalgonda): On Friday morning, more than a hundred farmers gathered at the PACS urea sales center in Nidamanur, eagerly checking if urea had been delivered. By 11 am, many left empty-handed as no supply was available.
Nearby areas like Haliya and Tripuraram distributed urea to farmers on Thursday, but Nidamanur received none, causing frustration. For the past ten days, local farmers have repeatedly visited the center hoping to obtain fertilizer but have been unsuccessful.
Currently, paddy is being planted across 36,000 acres of both irrigated and non-irrigated lands in the Nidamanur mandal, part of Nagarjuna Sagar Constituency in Nalgonda District. Farmers in this area typically need about 3,500 metric tonnes of urea each year to support their crops. Agriculture Officer M Munikrishnaiah reported that so far, 1,100 metric tonnes have been delivered to the mandal this season. He noted that approximately 2,000 metric tonnes are required in the first phase to fulfill the immediate needs of farmers.
