Hyderabad witnessed a lively start to the National Sports Festival at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium. The event, lasting nine days, focuses on promoting sports and empowering youth.
The Telangana Sports Authority is behind this festival, aiming to spread a love for sports throughout the state and encourage people of all ages to participate.
Vakiti Srihari, the Minister for Sports and Youth Services, inaugurated the festival. He highlighted the need to develop sports talent early, urging parents to motivate their children to engage in sports. He argued that early involvement benefits families and strengthens society. “Future champions should be identified from childhood,” he stated, noting that sports foster discipline, character, and health.
Using a Telugu saying, “Mokkai Vanganidi Manai Vanguna” (It’s easier to train a plant than a tree), the Minister pointed out that early training in sports leads to success and healthier lifestyles. He emphasized that sports should be integral to a child’s development, not just an extracurricular activity.
Shivsena Reddy, Chairman of the Sports Authority, shared the Minister’s views. He announced that the festival is happening on an unprecedented scale, with support from Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. Unlike the usual one-day National Sports Day events, this festival offers nine days of innovative activities. These activities will engage students, professionals, and communities across Telangana, not just in Hyderabad but also in district centers.
Prominent figures like Deputy Directors Chandra Reddy, Ravinder, and Anitha, along with PRO Kaleru Suresh, Stadium Administrator Madhu, and Future Olympian Organizer Siva Prasad, attended the launch. Their presence highlighted the teamwork and dedication to promoting a vibrant sports culture in the state.
