NLC India Limited celebrated the Nation’s 79th Independence Day with enthusiasm. Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, CMD of NLCIL, began the ceremony by honoring Mahatma Gandhi at the Township Administration Office. He was joined by directors, the Chief Vigilance Officer, and senior officials.

He raised the national flag at Bharathi Stadium and reviewed a parade of 18 groups, including CISF, Tamil Nadu Home Guards, NCC, NSS, and students. He received the Guard of Honour.

In his speech, Shri Motupalli paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and freedom fighters. He spoke proudly of NLCIL’s growth and diversification into commercial mining, critical minerals, and renewable energy. He highlighted achievements like the Ghatampur Thermal Power Project in Uttar Pradesh, showcasing NLCIL’s entry into Supercritical Thermal Plant operations. Joint Ventures with state governments were mentioned as part of their Vision 2030 targets.

He noted impressive financial results, including 38.81 Lakh tonnes of lignite excavation, 37.88 Lakh tonnes of coal production, and record power generation of 6,609.40 Million Units. Profit After Tax increased by 48.09% compared to last year.

The Government of India granted NLCIL investment autonomy with a Rs.7000 crore exemption, reflecting trust in the company. An ambitious Rs.1.25 lakh crore investment plan aims to triple power capacity to 20 GW by 2030.

NLCIL is pursuing projects with Indian Rare Earths Limited (IREL), supporting Aatmanirbhar Bharat. The company earned awards for its mines, CSR, and safety. Nearly Rs.48 crore was spent on CSR, benefiting over 8 lakh people.

Shri Motupalli praised Neyveli students for their academic success. He emphasized NLCIL’s readiness to adapt to global energy changes through Green Hydrogen and battery storage systems.

He acknowledged support from the Coal & Mines Minister Shri M. Kishan Reddy, Minister of State Shri Satish Chandra Dubey, and various state governments. NLCIL, he said, will continue to excel in the power industry.

Shri Samir Swarup, Director (HR), welcomed attendees, and Shri M. Ravichandran, a senior worker, was honored. Retrofitted scooters were given to differently-abled individuals.

Directors and officials like Dr. Suresh Chandra Suman, Shri M. Venkatachalam, and Shri Shekhar Mishra awarded winners in sports, best units, and CSR categories. Employees, trade unions, and Neyveli residents attended the event.

Cultural performances included fusion dance by Sneha Opportunity School students, drug abuse awareness, patriotism, and unarmed combat demos by CISF personnel. Shri Samir Swarup announced prizes worth Rs.24.08 lakhs for 4014 participating students.

Neyveli Ladies Club members distributed fruits to patients at NLCIL General Hospital, wishing them recovery.
