No Pakistani Nationals Found in Hyderabad on SAARC Visas
A day after the Indian government ordered Pakistani citizens with SAARC visas to return home, police teams in Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda checked records and visited different areas. They reported that no such individuals were found in these places.
The Cabinet Committee on Security, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, made the decision on Wednesday. It instructed authorities to find Pakistani nationals living in India under the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme and begin sending them back for national security reasons.
In response, Special Branch police in all three areas checked official documents and visited neighborhoods to confirm the presence of any such individuals. After hours of checking, officials said they found no Pakistani nationals living in these areas on SAARC visas.
A spokesperson from the Special Branch said, “We checked immigration records and visited various places, but found no Pakistani citizens living here under the SAARC visa scheme.” Police in Cyberabad and Rachakonda also said they found no one meeting the criteria.
The police have now asked the public to report any person who seems to be living in the area without proper documents.
The SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme allows visa-free travel for 24 types of people, such as judges, members of parliament, senior officials, business people, journalists, and athletes. However, this scheme has now been suspended for Pakistani citizens as part of efforts to improve border security and protect the country.
