Gadwal: District Collector B.M. Santosh highlighted the need for prompt delivery of nutritious meals to pregnant women, new mothers, and young children at Anganwadi centers.
On Tuesday, he made an unannounced visit to the Anganwadi center in the Ganjipet area of Gadwal town. During his visit, he spoke with the staff about the services offered to children and mothers. He interacted with the children, helping them learn English alphabets, and praised their efforts. He emphasized the importance of making sure every child can learn and engage confidently.
The Collector underlined the need for quality early education to support children’s foundational learning. He personally measured the children’s height and weight, advising staff to focus on those showing signs of undernutrition.
He reviewed the data entry mobile app and instructed the Anganwadi teacher to record information accurately and methodically. Stressing the prevention of nutritional deficiencies like SAM (Severe Acute Malnutrition) and MAM (Moderate Acute Malnutrition), he advised providing a balanced diet for good health.
The Collector called for regular updates on nutrition through the Poshan Tracker and NHFS (National Health and Family Survey) apps. He stressed the importance of monitoring pregnant women’s health and educating them about nutrition during pregnancy.
He instructed that all necessary facilities, including proper food, hygiene, and basic amenities, must be maintained to ensure no hardships for children at Anganwadi centers. These centers should operate efficiently for the benefit of all involved.
