Gadwal: On Monday, Vigilance and Enforcement teams carried out surprise checks at seed shops in Aiza Mandal. Their goal was to stop illegal seed sales and ensure clear seed distribution.
Officials visited well-known seed stores like Sairam Hybrid Seeds, Shanthi Seeds, and others. These checks occurred after farmers raised concerns about seed authenticity and costs during the Kharif planting season.
Inspectors examined important records such as stock registers, bill books, invoices, and source certificates. They made sure dealers were accountable and not selling fake or overpriced seeds.
The teams instructed dealers to sell seeds only at the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) shown on the package. They warned that any violation or lack of proper documentation could lead to strict legal consequences.
Authorities emphasized that these efforts protect farmers from exploitation during sowing. By enforcing trade rules, the district aims to provide quality seeds at fair prices on time.
The inspection drive will continue in other district areas as part of a broader campaign against poor-quality or illegally sold farm supplies. Farmers are encouraged to report any issues to the Agriculture Department or Vigilance authorities.
This action by enforcement officials is crucial as Kharif crop preparations are underway, making access to certified seeds essential for a successful farming season.
