Rangareddy: Officials from the Shamshabad municipality have taken action against restaurants and food places that are not keeping their kitchens and dining areas clean. After receiving many complaints about poor hygiene, a team from the municipal and sanitary departments inspected several eateries in the area.
During the inspections, the officials found that some establishments were not following basic cleanliness rules. As a result, they imposed heavy fines on those who were not keeping up with hygiene standards.
Shamshabad has around 1,000 to 1,500 commercial businesses, mostly eateries. This is because it is located near an international airport, a major bus depot, and the Umdanagar railway station. Although the local population is small, many travelers pass through the area and visit these restaurants and food courts daily.
Recently, both local residents and travelers began complaining about poor hygiene in these places. These complaints reached higher authorities, who then asked the Shamshabad municipal officials to take action and send regular reports on the situation.
In response, the officials started inspecting eateries more strictly. On Thursday, they raided two hotels—Nellurivari Vengamamba Mess and Kinara Grand Hotel. They fined them Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively for not following hygiene rules. The raids were carried out under the direction of Shamshabad Municipality Commissioner B Suman Rao, following orders from the Commissioner and Director of Municipal Administration (CDMA).
