Hyderabad is on alert as Himayat Sagar Lake nears a critical water level. Irrigation Department officials have inspected the site, warning locals in low-lying areas to be cautious and ready for emergencies.
Heavy rains have caused water from upstream areas to flow into Himayat Sagar and Osman Sagar reservoirs. The current water level in Himayat Sagar has reached 1,763 feet, just below its Full Tank Level (FTL) of 1,764 feet.
Officials warn that if water inflow continues, they might need to open the reservoir gates. In Osman Sagar, the water level stands at 1,782.800 feet, close to its FTL of 1,790 feet.
Ashok Reddy, the Water Board MD, has alerted officials about the situation. He urged them to monitor the flood situation closely and be ready to act. They are advised to coordinate with authorities from Hyderabad, Rangareddy, GHMC, and HYDRAA police to manage any potential crisis.
