Pakistan’s health minister, Abdul Qadir Patel, has reported that traces of alcohol and cocaine were found in Imran Khan’s body. Imran Khan is the chairman of the PTI party and a former prime minister of Pakistan. Patel cited a medical report prepared by the PIMS hospital based on samples taken after Khan’s arrest on May 9 by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

Patel said that a medical board was constituted shortly after Khan’s arrest which included renowned psychologist, Dr. Rizwan Taj, orthopedic medicine experts, and medico-legal specialists. Khan had a plaster on his leg for about five to six months, but there was no fracture as per the medical report, according to Patel.

Patel also mentioned that the report stated, “The gentleman was examined and appears under stress with anxiety symptoms. There was extensive anger/anxiety about the events happening in the last few weeks. He had little insight about the seriousness and reality of the current situation. The mental stability is questionable. There were some inappropriate gestures.”
