Private schools in Delhi are raising their fees again. This is causing problems for many middle-class families. Some schools have even punished students whose parents couldn’t pay the fees. In one case, children were made to wait outside in the hot sun. Many parents are very upset about this.
On April 15, a group of parents protested outside a school in Dwarka, Delhi. They said that students were not allowed to enter the school library for 25 days. This began on March 20, 2025. The parents called it a “library arrest” and said it was unfair to the children.
Leaders from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress joined the protest to support the parents. They criticized the government for not doing enough to control how private schools operate.
Delhi’s Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta, met with the parents. She said that schools will not be allowed to increase fees without reason. She promised that strict action would be taken against those who break the rules.
Education Minister Ashish Sood sent a team to investigate the school. He also said that parents will be asked to answer a survey with 18 questions. If the school is found to be breaking any rules, action will be taken.
AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal also spoke about the issue. He blamed the BJP and said they are trying to bring the “Gujarat model” to Delhi, which he believes will harm the education system.
Now, many parents are hoping the government will stop private schools from unfairly raising fees and mistreating students.
